Tomato Rasam Recipe

Tomato Rasam is a popular dish in South India. It is mostly taken with plain rice. It can also be taken instead of a soup as a starter.

Ingredients
Tamarind – half lemon size
Tomato – 1 (large)
Garlic – 2 cloves
Cummin seeds powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil – 2 teaspoons
Pepper powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Green chilly or Red chilly – 1
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 7
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup.

Preparation
Soak tamarind in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes in a bowl. Squeeze the tamarind and extract the juice. Crush the tomato or cut it into small pieces and add this to the tamarind juice. Crush garlic and add it too. Add cummin seeds powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder, and cut chillies to it. In a pan add oil and bring it to heat. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves and sauté it. Now add the mixture in the bowl to this pan. When this is about to boil remove the pan from the heat. Garnish with coriander leaves.
