Rohu Fish Recipe

Rohu Fish Kalia, i.e., Rohu Fish In Thick Gravy

Rohu fish kalia is a Bengali dish made with Rohu fish. It is not that hot and spicy like that of the South India dishes. It is a tasty dish made out of Rohu fish. It is easy to prepare this dish.

The ingredients needed for preparing this Rohu Kalia are:
• Rohu fish - about 250 gm
• Ginger - Garlic paste - 2 tsp
• Turmeric powder - half tsp
• Curd - one cup
• Onion - 1 chopped
• Mustard Oil - 1 tsp
• Bay leaf - 1
• Sugar - as you need
• Salt - as you need

Clean the fish properly and if needed you can cut them in to 1.5 inch pieces. Add salt and turmeric powder to this fish and let it marinate for about half and hour. In a pan heat oil and then fry the fish till it becomes golden brown in color and then keep them aside. To the oil add onion, bay leaf and sauté them till the onion becomes golden brown in color. Now add ginger-garlic paste to it and fry. After a minute add curd to it, water, and turmeric powder, salt and bring it to boil. When it is boiling add the fried fish to it and cook for about 5 minutes. Add sugar to this gravy when it thickens. Now the Rohu Kalia is ready to be served with steamed Rice.
