Cracked wheat recipes

Wheat is very common ingredient of your food however you can use it to make uncommon recipes from this ingredient. You can prepare pulao or bread from cracked wheat. It is the part of many Indian recipes in which it is used frequently. Indian love and relish the recipes prepared form cracked wheat. It also provides you good number of calories so you should add cracked wheat in your food. Here are recipes prepared from cracked wheat, try them and enjoy the exotic taste of it.

Nutritious Broken Wheat Pulao

  • Broken wheat (one cup)
  • Onion (one in number, diced)
  • Cabbage (half cup, chopped)
  • Carrot (half cup, cut)
  • Green chili (two in number)
  • Peas (one handful)
  • Capsicum (one small sized, chopped)
  • Ginger Garlic (paste, one teaspoon)
  • Clove, cinnamon stick (one in number each, Biriyani Masala)
  • Salt (according to taste)
  • Oil cumin seeds (used for tempering)
  • Cucumber (two in number, chopped)
  • Curd (one cup)
  • Cumin powder, black salt, pepper powder (according to taste)
How to cook
  1. Take pressure pan, pour oil in it and heat it. Add cumin seeds in it and let them crackle.

  2. First fry onions then garlic ginger paste.

  3. Sauté all the vegetables for five minutes.

  4. Pour broken wheat and let it fry also for more five minutes.

  5. Sprinkle salt and pour two and a half cups of water in it.

  6. Put the lid over the pan and let it cook for five minutes. Do not wait for pan whistle rather turn off the stove after five minutes.

  7. You should serve it with raita so to make raita add pepper powder, salt and cucumber into curd and stir well.

Cracked Wheat French bread

  • Water (two cups)
  • Sugar (one tablespoon)
  • Yeast(one tablespoon, dry)
  • Salt (one tablespoon)
  • Whole wheat flour (one cup)
  • Olive oil (quarter cup)
  • Cracked wheat cereal (one cup, uncooked)
  • Egg white (one in number, lightly beaten)
  • Sesame seeds
  • All purpose flour (four cups)
How to make it
  1. Use stand mixer bowl for pouring water in it. Add sugar and dust yeast over the water and leave it for five minutes.

  2. Add olive oil, whole wheat flour, salt and cracked wheat in it then mix all the ingredients with dough hook.

  3. Now, pour all purpose flour. Keep on stirring with dough hook so that no unmixed flour could stick with bowl's sides. Knead the mixture with your hands gently to form elastic and smooth dough.

  4. Oil some bowl, shift the dough in it and apply the oil also at the top of the dough. Use plastic paper to cover the dough and leave it untouched for one hour.

  5. After an hour, take the dough and knead it for more five minutes.

  6. Put it again in the same oiled bowl and let it become double.

  7. Take out dough and place on some board, cut into pieces and apply oil on the upper surface of it then egg whites. Sprinkle sesame seeds at the end.

  8. Bake these pieces on 375 centigrade in the oven for 50 minutes.
