Baked Recipes

Baking is a method or a technique through which food is cooked without direct exposure to flame. Dry heat is used for baking. Typically ovens or hot surfaces like hot stones or hot ashes are used in this technique. In baking, mostly dry heat acts on the food by convection other than the radiation. It is the prolonged cooking of the food by dry heat. This technique is mainly used for the preparation of crackers, pastries and pies, quiches, bread, cookies, cakes and tarts.

Here are baking recipe of Anzac biscuits and Banana and rolled oat muffins. If you want to bake these at home here is a complete description:

Anzac biscuits

Anzac biscuits are of great importance in the history of Australia.

Ingredients
  • Sifted plain flour one full and one quarter cup
  • Caster sugar half cup
  • Chopped unsalted butter 150g
  • Treacle or golden syrup two tablespoons
  • Rolled oats one cup
  • Desiccated coconut three parts of cup
  • Bicarb soda half teaspoon
Method
  1. First of all preheat the oven at 170°C.

  2. Take a large bowl.

  3. Put the flour, sugar, coconut and oats in the bowl and stir it well to combine.

  4. Now take saucepan and place it on the stove over low flame.

  5. Place the butter and golden syrup in the sauce pan and keep heating till the butter gets melt fully.

  6. Add one and half tablespoons of water and bicarb soda to the above mixture.

  7. Once the mixture starts to boil and bubbles are formed, remove it from the heat.

  8. Pour it into the dry ingredients' mixture and stir it to make a well combined mixture.

  9. Take tablespoon full of mixture and shape it into round and place them on the baking trays.

  10. Baking trays are lined with non stick baking paper.

  11. Press the tops of the mixture balls and make them slightly flat.

  12. Bake the biscuits for 12 minutes and you will get a sweet golden brown color.

Banana and rolled oat muffins

Ingredients
  • Self-raising flour (two cups)
  • Ground cinnamon (one teaspoon)
  • Bicarbonate of soda (half teaspoon)
  • Rolled oats (one cup)
  • Brown sugar (half cup)
  • Eggs(two in number)
  • Plain yoghurt (three by four)
  • Canola oil (quarter cup)
  • Bananas (two in number, mashed)
Method
  1. Before starting the actual process of cooking, you should heat the oven on 200°C. Use paper cases for lining the muffin pan.

  2. Take a bowl and add cinnamon, soda and sift flour in it. Add also brown sugar and oats. Mix all the ingredients well.

  3. Mix yogurt, oil, eggs and beat them well then mix up two mashed bananas in it. Add also all the dry ingredients of the recipe. You can use wooden spoon to mix the infusion. You need not to mix these things well rather you are to combine them only with spoon.

  4. Pour the mixture into paper cases with the help of spoon. Give it 20 minutes baking time till then mixture will turn brown. Before taking it out, let it cool down for 5 minutes.
