Indian Rice Recipes

Rice is the food that is frequently consumed in Indian houses than homemade bread. You will be shocked to know, if you are not an Indian, that in many houses people love to have it in every brunch. Almost, everyone loves this dish and especially small kids. It provides good nutritious value. It is cooked with many variations like you can prepare it with vegetables, meat and even plain. There are so many ways to cook it however here are two matchless ways to relish this food.

Hyderabadi Biryani

  • Basmati Rice (350 grams)
  • Potatoes (200 grams)
  • Carrots (200 grams)
  • Onions (100 grams)
  • Chilies (4 Green)
  • Ginger (30 grams)
  • Garlic (20 grams)
  • Turmeric Powder (half teaspoon)
  • Red Chili (one teaspoon, powder)
  • Curd (one cup)
  • Saffron (one teaspoon)
  • Milk (2 tablespoon)
  • Mint (one third part of cup, leaves)
  • Coriander (one third part of cup, Leaves)
  • Rose Water (four teaspoon)
  • Cashew nuts (50 grams)
  • Almonds (50 grams)
  • Raisins (25 grams)
  • Ghee (120 grams)
  • Salt (for taste)
How to make hyderabad biryani
  1. Soak the washed rice in the water for half an hour. Take skillet, pour water and add rice with salt and garam masala in it. Let the rice boil till the grains cook well then strain them.

  2. Wash carrots and potatoes, peel and cut them. Dice mint, green chilies, garlic, onion, coriander and ginger.

  3. To remove the skin of almonds, dip them in water and leave for half an hour.

  4. Take a bowl, whisk curd in it and divide it into two parts. Take lukewarm milk, add saffron in it and pour into one part of curd.

  5. Saute garam masala on medium heat. Put onions to brown and then add garlic, green chilies and ginger too. After a minute, add chili powder, turmeric and stir for few seconds.

  6. Add vegetables, saute them and add curd, two by three cup water and let them boil till vegetables cook then add nuts and dry fruits in it.

  7. Add saffron curd, coriander and mint. Spread half quantity of rice over this mixture then pour the mixture again. Cover the pot with some clean wet cloth and heat it on very low flame for 20 minutes.

  8. You rice are ready to serve them with mint chutney.

Indian Rice Recipe

  • Rice (two cups)
  • Garlic cloves (three in number, chopped)
  • Cumin seeds (half teaspoon)
  • Vegetable oil (three tablespoon)
  • Cloves (two in number)
  • Turmeric (quarter teaspoon)
  • Salt (two teaspoon)
  • Cinnamon (one piece)
  • Onion (one in number, medium sized)
  • Mustard seeds (half teaspoon)
  • Chile flakes (quarter teaspoon)
  • Cardamom pods (two in number)
  • Water (eight cups)
Cooking Method
  1. Boil water with salt, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and add soaked and washed rice. Let them take 10 minutes to boil. Use colander to drain water and run cold water over the rice. Pick cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and throw them.

  2. Take a large skillet with enough capacity in which rice could accommodate easily. Pour oil in it and heat over medium flame. Add chili flakes, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Saute till mustard seeds splatter. Add onions and saute them for 7-8 minutes.

  3. Now saute garlic also in this mixture and add rice. Sprinkle turmeric powder over the rice and mix the infusion well. Cook the entire mixture for 4-5 minutes. Ladle occasionally or else rice will stick to the bottom.
Your Indian rice is ready. Serve them hot with chutney.
