Rava Upma recipe

Introduction:
Upma is a famous South Indian breakfast cereal which is made with quite healthy ingredients such as rice and vegetables. It contains in it quite tangy and salty taste which makes it family favorite. Rava upma is another variation in upma which is made with sooji or semolina, majorly known as upma in India. Following is the simplest recipe of maing rawa upma

Ingredients:
  • One cup of rava or sooji or semolina
  • Quarter cup of sawayyan (vermicelli)
  • One teaspoon of urad daal
  • One teaspoon of chana daal
  • Salt as per taste
  • Two to three cups of water
  • Two teaspoons of oil
  • One teaspoon of ghee
  • One teaspoon of lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Quarter teaspoon heeng (asafetida)
  • Three to four curry leaves
  • Two tomatoes, finely chopped
  • One teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
  • Two small sized onions (finely chopped)
  • Half teaspoon mustard seeds (rai)
  • Green chilies
Preparation Process:
Heat the butter and oil and cook urad daal, chana daal, mustard seeds and asafetida till they start changing their color. Now add ginger garlic paste and vermicelli and cook well. Then add onions and fry till they become transparent. Then add tomatoes and all spices with quarter cup of water and cook till tomatoes start blending. Add half cup of water and rava and mix well so that lumps do not form. Let the rava get thick. In the end, add green chilies and coriander leaves and serve hot.
